The question that shames more survivors than any other: why can’t I stop wanting someone who treated me like that? The answer is not in your character. It is in a reinforcement schedule.
This piece is the most amazing thing i've read in i cant remember when.. it structurally brings it all together and makes it make sense..just wow!! same structure as the animal work and the slot machine. One thing that came to mind as well....a hoover would be the flashing lights of the slot machine after you’ve left the floor. It doesn’t change the odds. It tries to restart the operation. The machine has no counter-move for a person who sees the lights and still refuses to pull the lever.
Thank you for this. You've just extended the framework in a way that completes it.
A hoover as the flashing lights after you've left the floor, that's exactly right. The machine panicking. The odds unchanged. And you, seeing clearly, refusing to pull.
The machine has no move for that kind of clarity. That's the entire story. 💙
